HTML syntax errors are easy to create and hard to find. Viewing the page on a browser is not much good for catching bad HTML because some browsers are more fault tolerant than others. A page that looks good on one browser may fail to display correctly on another. Broken links are even harder to find because they can appear unexpectedly at any point in a web site. To identify broken links manually, you need to test each link in every document of your web site every week or so.

Fortunately, there are software tools to help you check links and HTML syntax.
